View Full Version : Has anyone removed the headlight lens off of the reflector housing? I wana replace w/euro spec lens imaudi5 02-25-2002, 03:16 PM shazam123 02-25-2002, 07:42 PM I've removed the entire headlight assembly. At that point I probably could have removed the lens but had no need to. I'm going from memory here so I might have missed something but the basic steps are like this: (1) Pop the hood. (2) Disconnect the wiring connectors from the back of the light assembly. (I think there are two...one connector and one bulb.) (3) There are two (2) screws at the top of each headlight assembly. Remove them. (4) There is a wide thin decorative strip underneath the light assembly. Remove the single screw (on the radiator side) that holds this in and wiggle it free. (5) Behind this decorative strip you will find two more screws that hold the bottom of the headlight assembly. Remove the two screws. (6) At this point the headlight assembly should come right out. If I remember correctly the reflector housing is held in with "snap tabs" so it should come off with a little prying and wiggling. Pull the cover off, and wiggle the jet assembly off. You'll need to plug the hose, unless you're out of washer fluid (I used a pen.) Then, you'll be able to slide the strip to the center of the car to expose the two bottom screws. Also, in order to qualify as "sealed beams" in the US, several of the lens retaining clips are epoxied on. Carefully use a screwdriver to pry these out; it's easy to break the plastic housing or old lens (safety issue-you may want to wear safety glasses.) |
