Anyone, any ideas why my door mirrors are not heating when the rear screen heater is on? Audi would not fit electrically adjustable mirrors that were not heated, would they? UK A6 2.5 TDi.

View Full Version : Heated Door Mirrors? jimmux 02-23-2002, 06:54 AM Anyone, any ideas why my door mirrors are not heating when the rear screen heater is on? UK A6 2.5 TDi. mark1620 02-23-2002, 10:21 AM The heated mirrors on my A6 are pittiful compared to my 4000 and 100Q. In fact, my only gripes with the car have been the heater, which doesn't seem to distribute the warm air as evenly as the 100 and the mirrors which don't begin to do anything until I restart the rear defroster (My third gripe: what did they put that timer in for?) wagon_lover 02-25-2002, 06:49 AM

I replaced the left mirror due to some loamination problems behind the glass. I actually never knew I had heated mirrors until I removed the glass and found the 12 VDC connectors behind there (see photo). I did some checking with my multimeter and found that the car sent 12 Volts to the mirror regardless of ambient temperature or rear defrost switch (they are always on). Now it is my right mirror that won't defrost. I'm thinking about spending the $30 US to replace that one with a new heated glass so they both work. I don't know how both mirrors could have been faulty on a '97 model car, but all I know is, that might new mirror cooks frost off in a few seconds after starting the car.
