About a month ago while I was driving our 99.5 1.8TQMS I heard the gears grind when shifting from 2nd to 3rd during hard acceleration. At first I thought I was not engaging the clutch all the way. I tried it again ensuring I had the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and it did it again. 3rd gear was functional otherwise. The dealer claimed it was probably due to a cracked synchro/servo so they replaced it and then the problem was worse. It would grind when going into 3rd during normal acceleration. Audi told the dealer to just replace the transmission. I had to wait 3 weeks for one to be shipped from Germany. I have heard that the TT's have been having problems with their transmission but I haven't heard anything about the A4's.
