Does anyone here have the aluminium gauge face installed on their A4s? I have seen the white ones,... but I am more interested in the aluminium ones. Does anyone know if they look like the ones you find in late model VW GTIs/GLXs (silver)? I thought they may match well once I get the aluminium trims stripped of its paint.

Second, anyone tried painting the engine plastic cover? I am thinking of doing it Bright Red (contrast w/ my Brilliant Yellow) or Brilliant Yellow. It's hard plastic... what works best on that material? Or maybe I can hand lay some of that carbonfibre stuff from Folia Tec, instead?

hey cris,
the day i bought my car i accidently broke that plastic engine cover..
i glued it back together then covered it with this carbon fiber overlay.. bad bad idea.. it gets pretty damn hot under our hoods.. especially if you have the k04 like you do.. the tape starts to bubble and shrink.. not a pretty sight! i had to shell out the $40 for an entire new piece..
i was thinking of painting it myself by using many coats of hi-temp paint as well.. but i havent had the chance to do so.. please tell me what you decide to do and how it goes..

Doesn't someone sell aftermarket covers? That would probably be the cleanest looking.

Yeah... I think I've seen the ABT carbonfibre covers for the A4... (though I don't know if it will fit the late 98 w/ 1 piece plastic cover)... The set runs about $300+!!

I really want it painted either red or brilliant yellow. Nice and shiney red.
Oh yeah, if you have some of those horrible pix, please forward them to me? I'd like to know what not to do! :)

And I certainly do hope you are not implying that by painting my engine cover,... I am to be associated with the ricers?
I just want my go fast A4 to look just as fast when sitting at a stand still.
As you can tell, I didn't buy my Brilliant Yellow A4 to be a quiet riot!
