I think the one place quoted me 700 to do the following:
"we ah...check da filters, and ah.. spark plugs... and ah...filters....and oil...and we check da car...and we look at the filters....and uh....check over da car."
reply:
"so what exactly do you do to it?"
"we check it over- duh- filters-duh."

There's obviously no IQ check to work at an Audi Service shop. I had to keep from laughing my head off. 700! without timing belt, water pump, or any other belt, and no oil change! Does this guy think stupid people buy Audis- maybe he should work for Ford.

what miles are you at?

If its a 30k service,
then replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs, checking the oils, fluids, suspention, exhaust, error codes, flushing and replacing differential oil, transmition oil, and brake fluid... maybe.

I think I got my last 30k service done for $350 - $400

- Change oil/filter
- Change air filter
- Change fuel filter
- Change spark plugs
- Check timing belt for tension and condition
- Check water pump for noises or leaking
- Check serpentine belt for tention and condition
- Check underside of car for leaks or damage

About $200 for this service... max.

Do your coolant and brake fluid flushes with brake change and timing belt/water pump. Differential oil either every 45k or 60k.

Does Audi really recommend this service. I haven't seen it in the owners manual as recommended. My local Audi dealership doesn't even offer the service. They claim that its a lifetime fluid in there, and opening the system up may cause more problems than it would solve. Additionally, they claim they haven't seen a breakdown in a differential.
Not trying to argue with anyone...just wondering if you guys have heard differently from your shops.

some say its a good idea. Some say its their for life.

The differential is known to leak, and if alot of fluid is lost it would probably be a good idea to flush it before refilling.

Is it necissary? probably not.
