I appreciate everyones advice in my previous post but the car is still performing poorly. Anyone have any further suggestions beyond adding Techron, changing the fuel filter, and new spark plugs and injectors? Is this a common complaint with these cars, has anyone else experienced the same symptoms?

I had the problem on my old 1990 Audi. My mechanic told me that I had very dirty fuel injectors and rather than having them "professionally cleaned," suggested the following. Go to a Toyota dealership and buy their Toyota fuel injector cleaner. He claims it's some of the strongest fuel injector cleaner gas additive out there and he's usually never wrong. It should cost about $12 for a 10 oz. can. Then fill up your gas tank to about 14 gallons and pour the additive in. Then take a long drive until the gas is almost empty to drain it through the car. If you leave the stuff in the car's system too long, it supposedly does damage to your hoses! I had to use two cans of this stuff, but it actually worked.

I had new fuel injectors installed within the last year...could they be the problem already? I recently added 44k (which is comparable to Techron fuel injector cleaner.) Could it be the ignition or the coil that causes the stuttering under acceleration? Or could it be the fuel pump at 97k?
