A couple of months ago I go into an accident with my 92 100cs. Hit on the rear wheel and quarter panel.

The body shop did an excellent job with the paint,
and they were also supposed to straighten the rear wheel alignment and replace the wheel bearing.

So I pick the car up, Loved the body work and thought all was well.

Nope, the steering wheel was still off center (about 10 degrees to the left). So I took it back and had them realign it.

I picked up the car a couple of days later drove it home. It was better but the wheel was still off
by about 5 degrees.

I could have let this go at this point but it snows in Michigan and your alignment has to be perfect. (The though of loosing it on the Expressway...yikes!)

So I took it to a shop that I trust and had them check the Alignment.

Result: The rear wheels are out of spec's so the car is 'Dog Tracking' which is the reason that the steering is off.

Here's the clincher, the rear wheel bearing is shot. The same wheel bearing that the Insurance Company was billed for as being fixed.

At this point I can only hope they get it right.

Sam.

If its shot, and the insurance was supposed to cover and it was never replaced.. sounds like they should replace it for free since they didn't in the first place?

Its always a pain to be driving back and forth back and forth, trying to get something that should be easy fixed.. but at least its done for free.

Not sure if you said if you had a quattro car or not, but if the tires on the car are not the same radial belt, tred, etc, its going to pull in different directions and make it hard to drive at high speeds.

One of my tires blew awhile back, and discount tire tried to sell me a tire completely different and only after I explained it to them three times did he understand and find a tire that matched.

Tell them they have to take it for a testdrive to make sure its set, and tell them not to call you until they have personally made sure its aligned perfectly =)

They will get the picture
