I have 96 A6 with 68K mi. on it. Week ago I have changed to synthetic oil. Today I read the following: "If you've been driving around with mineral oil in your engine for years, don't switch to synthetic oil without preparation. Synthetic oils have been known to dislodge the baked-on deposits from mineral oils and leave them floating around your engine - not good. I learned this lesson the hard way! It's wise to use a flushing oil first."

I did not use flushing oil. Did I killed my ngine or it is just my paranoja?

But I doubt it will do any harm at all. Next oil change you can flush it...

I would not be worry; I did the same thing
on several cars few yearg ago - nothing
happened. But now I am using mineral - SWEPCO;
it is kind of expensive, but so far the best
thing I have poured into my engines. Very good
stuff, and forget about ticking lifters.

I bought a '97 A6 and immediately switched to synthetic (Mobil 1) and have not had any such problems.

The "flush" thing is an "old wives tale" . If there was sludge in the engine from oil change neglect, desolving it now will be the least of you worries!
