Hi guys,
After recovering from a head-on collision I found that the damage caused by the passenger side airbag inflation was equal (in monetary value) to the entire body repair. My Audi-100S 1994 is still in a very good shape with low mileage - 5 miles on my wife's way to work. One reason is that the car is used in "driver only" mode 95% of all time. Another reason is safety of my son sitting behind the airbag.
I'd like to disable it, or which is more preferable, not to install it at all, if possible. But, at the same time, I want to have driver's air bag be properly installed and automatically checked at "ignition" time. Is it a dream?
Dealer told me that manufacturer doesn't allow/approve such modification - so no help from their side. From LEGAL point I think I can notarize that, as an owner, I won't have any claims for non-inflated passenger airbag in case of any accidents.
Could you help me from TECHNICAL side? Another words, do you know how to do it? Or have you heard about any precedence? What do you think about the project in general? Is it worth to do?
Any productive responses will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Walker (at least, for now)
