its easy to put it back on - but is there a way to make sure it doesnt just fall off again????

The trim piece is some kind of rubber. I'll probably go hunting for some good "waterproof" two part epoxy some day.

They are all clipped on, I'm pretty sure... mine has been fine on my '94 100CS... one piece on the A6 has come off, but it's because of a broken mounting clip. I have the new part, waiting to get it painted.

I would try to find the problem, if there is one. If it's a broken clip-on or something, replace it. I'm not completely sure if the trim and mounting pieces can be ordered separately or not. You would have to check.

Its the trim from the rear driverside door.. It fell off a couple of times before - I'd just hate to see it fall off on the highway one of these days...

My small trim (actually on the rear fender) is the piece that falls off. But only when it is brushed up against or something. Never on the road. The actual panels are the same on the '93 as on my '96, so the actual trim mounting method is going to be similar. There should be a white "mounting piece" that the trim clips onto. The white piece mounts directly to the panel or door with screws, probably. Check the snap points. One might be bent or broken off... IMO the entire white mounting piece will probably need to be replaced, or the trim piece of there is a snap point broken off that piece.

I had my rubber part start to fall off, and had it replaced for $25 at a local body shop.
In and out sorta thing.

The trim pieces rusted in the middle and caused them to pull away from the clips.
As a short term solution I pulled out the metal inner piece and glued the rubber strip to the white mounting points on the door using 3M molding adhesive. So far so good!

How easy is it to replace a broken mounting clip? Can I do it myself or do I have to go to a body shop? The white clip that holds the molding to the door on the passenger side is broken. If you have instructions on how to do it - it would help a lot. Thanks.
