I got it!!<p>They are NOT CUPholders. Rather, they are the best damn CANholders of any car I've driven.<p>After reading the old Detroit Free Press review on Auto.com, I realized everyone wants to use it for fastfood beverage cups, which the canholders can't hold save for the medium sodas at McDs (and only then can one at a time really fit). Particular some of the refillable ones. I eventually settled on one from Einstein's bagels, the iced coffee version. Not perfect, but stable enough.<p>I agree about the cans, though, it holds cans perfectly.

By the way, my cupholders suffered premature failure and the replacements have rubber lining the sides which holds your mug/can/whatever better than the plain old plastic sides of the original model.
