If you are using Syntec in the US and you think it's Synthetic oil, you're being ripped off cause it's not.
The SYNTHETIC BLEND is *not* fully synthetic, but the SYNTHETIC is.
Am I missing something?

I noticed Castrol sells two products. A 100 percent Syntec which is the more expensive one. They have a cheaper one which is a blend.
Paul

Here's the scoop from a friend whose wife worked for Valvoline.
The EC (Euro Comunity) banned Castrol from selling the oil as "synthetic" because it was only partly synthetic (about 5%) and nearly all mineral oil. Here in US there is no law against marketing the product as synthetic oil and that's just what they are doing.
Most synth. oils are 95% poly alpha olefins which is the synthetic base stock of the oil. Castrol is only 5%.
They put the 5% in to pass specs i'm told.
Hey, I use to live next door to a Polly Alpha Olefin! How did they make oil out of her? I wonder how much synthetic is in Mobil One. What ever happened to our resident chemists (Bill Shultz?) and oil experts (Sandy? Erik Bruce?).
Inquiring minds want to know.
Steve S.
P.S. Its probably like D5W....in the medical industry (Dextrose 5% in water)
