They are too far apart, the gas pedal is about an inch lower than the brake. Worst of all, the gas pedal is short, not extending to the floor, making it impossible to HEEL-toe shift. Ball(of foot)-toe shifting is possible, but does not allow nearly as much control as a propper setup. The existing setup isn't bad, but it is FAR from perfect.

But my heel/toe move is more of a side step. I like to wear my addidas running sneakers for aggressive driving. They have a very wide sole...

I have small, size 9, feet too.

it was nowhere as easy to shift as my brother's M3 (almost perfect in my opinion). However I soon realized that I had to swivel my foot almost ninety degrees to blip the throttle. While unusual, I have gotten used to it, and actually quite like the positions. It is certainly far more "physical" and positive than a simple throttle blip.

I've raised the "at rest" position of the gas pedal by 3/4" in my '99 2.8QMS, which made "heel & toe" downshifting much easier. I'll send you a MS Word 6.0 file of illustrated instructions,if you contact me at jsklenar@svg.com

the pedals so close it was hard NOT to hit the gas when you braked. Now that was close! And it was perfect for heel and toe down shifting.

I only attached the gas pedal cover. Now its real easy to heel/toe. I think they were $29.95
