View Full Version : Suspension Question????????????? Daigs 10-13-1999, 04:25 PM Any one know how an A4 would handle with stock sway bars and sports suspension shocks and springs?????????????????? Roy S. 10-13-1999, 05:16 PM My 99.5 1.8TSM (sport pkg) I believe handles wonderful. Now this is very subjective. If you are looking for ultimate conering grip, then there is much improvement that can be made. For overall balance at its limits with a good ride for everyday, I like the factory Sport Pkg. I have had Corvettes in the past with F51, and I currently have a 96 C2 (911). If you know you are going to make future mods to the suspension, go with the base setup and the optional 3-spoke steering wheel. If not, the Sport Pkg. will firm the car up a bit, reduce body roll, but maintain a good ride quality for a fairly low price. Andy Hedin 10-14-1999, 05:47 AM I had just the Sport springs & shocks installed for a few hundred miles on my '97 1.8T prior to deciding I didn't like the handling. The rear end seemed to rotate too much in constant radius turns at speed. It would feel like it was rotating, and then it would "dig in" and track through the corner. I didn't like the feel so I ordered the Sport sway bars from Clair Parts and installed them myself. Roll was diminished even more, the steering seemed to feel a little "heavier" (which was fine by me as I don't like a too light steering feel) and the strange rotation feeling in curves was gone. I say install the entire package. After all, it was designed as a "package". Andy Hedin '97 A4 1.8Tqms, Garrett 1.0 Bar, ABT Filter, APR/Borla Exhaust, Euro Headlights, more... |
