I also need to do strut mounts (at least I think that's part of the "clunk-clunk" when going over bumps)... so I guess it would all have to come out. One shop said it was the sway bar links, another shop said it was probably the strut mounts ... might as well replace both while I'm in there, right?

To do the links all you do is jack the car up and undo some nuts/bolts. The top mounts require a long allen key and a weird 2-prong nut/driver type thingee. Also a spring compressor of some sort is essential. Check out a shop manual.
