I was just talking to some guy who had a coupe and we were discussing wheels and tires. He said that he had 17" by 8.5" with 215/40 17 tires on the front and 17" by 10" with 245/35 17 tires on the rear. I didn't even think that the rear wheels he mentioned could fit on a coupe! My main question is: Could that width fit on a sedan or does the coupe have far deeper wheel wells in comparison? Anyone have any idea about this?

or if they even do. I was interested in that too.

Basically, the tires he is running are very narrow for the wheels (too narrow actually, bet they were a PITA to mount).
An 8.5" should have a 245 or 255 and a 10" should have somewhere around 285mm width tires. The CQ can fit up to around a 245mm wide tire on an 8.5" wheel before having clearance issues. No clue what the B4 can take (at least in the rear).
His car will be very prone to bending a wheel as well as have more understeer. Not something I want, thats for sure.

which we've got rented. We've got a full garage setup in a former auto-detailing center at the moment. Plenty of parking, 5-6 car capacity inside, but usually filled with naughty projects;)
The upstairs has a full kitchen, bath, and plenty of room for a good winter meetup. Hopefully hauling in another smashed S4 tomorrow for teardown, a Passat supercharge project, the naughty bunny widebody race cabriolet, and more. Maybe when spring hits we'll have an unveiling of several projects along with a little night time activities.
Now just waiting for the ice racing, hopefully we will see some of you out there this year.
Cheers,
