Recently purchased a 1998 2.8QM with 49,000 miles (where was this guy going?). Anyway, it cost about half of new and was in pretty good shape. Took car in to dealer at 49,850 miles for one last shot (no extended warranty for me). Of note:
1. CD changer skipped continuously, got the H vs. V fix from this forum, problem solved.
2. No chime, dealer has had car for two days now while he orders wrong instrument cluster.
3. Rough idle...RPM intermittently drops to about 500 then recovers to 800. Dealer can't duplicate.
4. Both cup holders stuck in the up position. Dealer will fix.
5. Windshield distorted as described ad nauseum in this forum. Dealer will not replace ("they're all like that").
6. Calipers have significant corrosion. Dealer says "normal."
7. Fair amount of driver side wind noise, again dealer says "normal."
Got a loaner car from the dealer (G20) and have used it to haul sod from the sod farm to my house. Wouldn't consider doing that with my own car.
