I know this is probably covered in the Archives but I've spent 1/2 an hour in there. Maybe someone can clear this up for me.

I just bought a 99.5 1.8T with non-Bose Concert stereo. I want to upgrade the stereo and add a CD Changer.

1) Can I use my Alpine CD Changer? My installer says yes, with a $100CDN adapter plug.
2) If not I understand I can use a Panasonic. What model #(s)?
3) I found in the archives that the Bose system has line outs at the rear speakers. Is this the same for the std. Concert head unit?

I apologize for beating a dead horse with this...
Thanks!
Darren

You can use the Panasonic. There are two, a six disc and an 8 disc. I don't know the exact model numbers.. But you can find them both on www.autotoys.com in the OEM section for Audi cars. When I bought mine it ran around $217 and comes with the adapter wire that you need. It's pretty much plug-and-play from there.

I recommend the six disc changer instead of the 8, as it is a little easier to install.

I called Crutchfield and told them the info on my 99 Audi. They hooked me up with the Panasonic 6 disk and adaptor for about $200. Super easy to install in the Avant.

But please note: the Random play mode will not work from the Concert Radio. Not a big deal for me. Works great otherwise.
