Does anyone have any idea how good or bad the clear taillights look on a silver Avant. I was figuring that since the front and sides look so good with clear lenses/colored bulbs, perhaps the rear end would spruce up nicely with clear tail lights?

Any info and especially pix would be nice

Thanks

They are Illegal in the US, as you must have a red reflector on the rear of the car. And the Brake lights must be RED, not the Pink color that the Red bulbs produce and the cover for them must be Red. Also if someone re-ends you with Clear tail/Brake lamps the Accident is YOUR fault, as your car did not meet U.S. standards. You can be sued and if you’re in a state with out no-fault insurance, your insurance company covers all the damage in the accident. The cops around here tend to be pretty tight about pulling people over for that, as well as those blue headlamps, but I have herd in other parts of the country they let it slide. Also I have never herd of anyone getting pulled over for it, but replacing the front yellow turn signal reflector with the clear ones is also illegal. Just some dumb DOT laws. (Though I agree with the tail lamp one as I almost rear ended a civic because in the sun his brake lights were invisible)

The clear corner lenses are good looking, but you have to use an amber bulb. (even though i use a clear white one). The rear clear housing would look ugly, and the light output of a regular red bulb shows up pink and is very hard to see. There are some superred bulbs available, but i am not sure if they have a4 fitment. The police here in houston are very laid back about the clear corner lenses since some cars have them stock now. Just keep the red/white rears, they look alot better.

over many times. He has a small (1 inch x 3inch ) red reflector below his left rear taillight. And this makes them legal. His gets hassled a lot for them, but they are legal with that reflector.
