A few days after I ran my A4 hard at the Watkins Glen Quattro Club event, I got the "Service Oil" message. Checked the oil level--it's perfectly in the middle of the stick range where it should be. I have my 10K service coming up in about 1K miles--should I wait until then to have this addressed or bring it in earlier?

Since you are within 1,000 miles of an oil change interval, the light came on.

Shabbis could it be that you have a 2.8 and Steve and I have '99.5 1.8T's because I have not seen anything and I am about ~600 or less miles from 10K service and my appointment is a week from today.

So mine will be coming on in about 1,000 miles, I am currently at 5,500 miles (or at least it should). So I know that mine wasn't programed for the 1.8T.

Maybe the technician set your interval wrong, it happens often. This is what I heard from other posts here. The 2.8 has the 7,500 mile interval and the 1.8T has the 5,000 mile interval. But then you say that it has never come on, that's strange. I'd have your dealer look at it.

He can set it to come on at any mileage he wants you back. He usually changes the oil and charges AoA for it. They cheat a little and program it to come on early.....more "bucks" for them!
