Heard it idles like crap, as if 8v's like mine don't idle bad enough. I know van Gerbig put one in his 80 before doing any other mods. Maybe he knows more. LATERS!

you lose idle and low end torque to gain high end power. If you're building a revver, big cams are good. But from what I've seen, something smaller is best of both worlds.

Hey, wonder if a VW 16v would fit in the 80.

I don't have experience with a 270 in an Audi...but I did drop a HORtech 270 into the GTI, and it was fine. not a huge improvement. Idled fine. A little more pull up top. Had it mated to a set of 4-2-1 Bellevue Motorsport headers (which eventually rotted out. stupid Canada), was replaced with an early German VW Jetta exhaust 4-2-1 manifold, which gave me back my mid-range. The rest of the system was 2.5" stainless with Borla XR-1 (no cat. it melted. still passed emissions), and the airbox was drilled out, with a K&N.

That's why I'm more for giving up the Passat for a true Quattro. I could get a syncro, but really I want the Q
