We actually did have the Ottawa Valley A4 Club Brunch and Hill Climb event
last month! Here are the results:

The event was held on Sunday September 19, 1999. Everyone met
at the Merivale Denny's in Ottawa and we eventually achieved our goal of
getting to the Champlain lookout in Gatineau park.

The day was beautifully sunny and warm, it was a far cry from the fall
day with colourful leaves that we thought might be possible. It was
perfect weather for admiring and driving our A4 beauties. (This thanksgiving
weekend is actually the first good one for viewing leaves - if anyone is
interested)

Four A4's made it to the event - not bad for the limited publicity...We
got a good variety of colours and option packages (see pic). The
2.8's outnumbered the 1.8T's and for some reason we only had one guy who
was really into modifying his car :) The '97, '98 and '99 model years
were represented. We had standard badges, center mounted badges and
no badges. There were plenty of sport packages, sport seats and even
a cat-back exhaust.

Everyone seemed to hit it off well. There was great enthusiasm
for the club and the cars. I know that this club is going to grow rapidly.
In fact, we have already been able to have our first swap meet ;-)
I found a new home for my Passat wiper relay (remember my posting a couple
months back?) and I found a trunk tie-down. (talk about prepared, one of
our members had bought a bunch of LLtek accessories in preparation of getting
his car - but the car had a tie-down when he received it). The wives
have also started talking about starting some kind of a spousal support
group (I guess that's the last time we invite them along ;-).

Here are the guys and their rides:

You are looking at (L to R): Gary Boon, Kostas Siomalas, Marcin Radzikowski,
Gordon Martin

We also have 5 other people who would like to be considered members
but who were unable to attend.

A web site is in the works - watch for an announcement soon. We
hope to have our next event sometime in November if we can think of some
thrilling trip for the thing.

Oh ya, we decided to rename the club to the Ottawa Valley Audi
Club (OVAC) - no point excluding those sexy S4 and A6 models....I wouldn't
mind seeing some 90's come out either.

Thanks,

Gordon Martin

Step #1 - this is really important:

Wash your car no mare than an hour before any pictures are taken - that brake dust reproduces faster than rabbits.

I use the head of an old plastic kitchen broom as a scrubber (fits through the spokes perfectly). I then wet the rims down and spray on Simple Green Automotive. 10 seconds of scrubbing and a quick rinse leave the rims sparkling like they just came off the dealer lot :)

Until you discover Simple Green or Eagle One, the brake dust can be a real problem to remove. Simple Green disolves the dust on contact - all lyou have to do is smoosh it around slightly into all the corners and the brake dust is a goner.

Thanks for the compliment,
