I just factory ordered a 2000 A4 2.8Q Tip from the dealer. They told me to expect it to take 4 months to arrive. Is this accurate or are they just playing it safe? In other words is there a chance it may show up sooner?

I ordered mine 3 1/2 months ago. I was told they were changing the specs of an unsold allocated car that was just about to go into production, and that would save lots of time. I should expect it in late Sept. or early Oct. In early Sept, that got moved up to "late Sept. for sure." Three weeks ago, I was told that the car was already in the port in the USA.
As of two days ago, the dealer's most recent printout was two weeks old - the car at that point was still in GERMANY - and I doubt I'll see it before November. They laughed off the previous estimates - "Oh well, Audi is always over optimistic in their estimates." Of course, they never told ME that... Nor did they explain how the car had gone from the US back to Germany.
So, at least based on my experience, don't go holding your breath that the car will show up early.

-that way if it comes on time (not bloody likely) it will seem like it's early.
By the way I'm going through the same thing, 2 months late and counting (will more thn likely be up to 4 by the time I get it) I just wish BMW salesmen sold Audi, I was never jerkes around over there.
