does the gas choice really make any difference? like premium, super +, regular? What would you guys recomend? does this affect the acceleration or is there no hope for a quicker reasponce.

My car seems to run smoother with Super. I also have a lot less "rotten egg" smell with Super. I always stick with a perceived quality fuel like chevron. I have never seen proof here on the forum about the difference in fuels, i.e. dyno w/ different brands etc....

There has been some talk from certain factory's that say super has a higher tendancy to build up carbon deposits in engine.

Just try a few and see what you think.

The 2.3L 10v works fine with 89. Anything higher I never noticed a difference. The 2.3L 20v only gets 91-94oct, same for the 2.2L 10vt.

In theory, cars with knock sensors _should_ run cleaner and faster on higher octanes. The higher the octane, the further the knock sensor will be able to advance the ignition timing without "hearing" any pinging. Advanced ignition timing (in this case) translates to more power. This is noticable in all my vehicles, but especially in the 200 with the turbo.

than regular is going to make it run just a tad better, less knock. Possibly might have higher detergent.

Is it going to make your car faster?......no,
not that you'll really notice.

such as in high boost or highly tuned wengine.

silly 10:1 compression isn't high enough to use premium.

honda accord V6 actually tested to run the 1/4 .2 secs slower with premium.

higher the octane harder for it to burn.......

Higher octane allows the ECU to advance ignition timing. If you are not running motronic, you shuld be able to manually advance timing without hearing a ping. Octane level makes a huge difference on turbo cars.

because boost = heat = ping

does advance timing help in everyday driving when its usually under 4000 rpms?

i think it'll hurt gas milage if the timing is too advanced, but if you are gonna race and redline it, then its a different story.

c'mon seriously, is the gas thats HARDER to burn better to get groceries.

but if you are a "spirited" driver, you should notice a differnce.
That being said, I think you would be hard-pressed to find someone that would argue that the performance improvement, particularly in mpg, is equal to or greater that the cost of the fuel. In other words, the cost of the higher grade gas is generally not cost-effective, unless the enjoyment you get from the few extra hp is significant.
