Hi all, I'm enjoying the forum and writing for the first time. Anyone have some thoughts on replacing the gear selector lights in the dash cluster of a 94 Cabriolet? Dealer here in Louisiana says it's a component piece not lit by the normal bulbs at the rear of cluster, that it's an LCD board lit by it's own two LEDs. is this right? Sure don't want to spend $$$ to light that small rectangle but then, again, can I live with it burned out? Who could?

Go to urS4.com and read the fix for the outside temp display bulb replacement. Save procedure. I just had to do this on my cabby. It is really easy and only costs about $3. you will need 2 12v bulbs from Radio shack. Just take it apart and take the bulbs down with you to make sure you get the right size.

Thanks for encouraging me to take the component apart. There sure ARE incandescent bulbs inside. They're small but readily available at Radio Shack. Careful soldering to the circuit board did the trick and it's working fine now.
Let's see, I spent $1.80.
That saves $290 over dealer replacement.
