I really miss living in Vail....
Hey, I saw you guys were cruisin with a white Bonneville...I wonder if my folks
painted theirs white...I thought it was blue.
Looks like a blast...
I got a cool idea...go up to Vail via I70....get off at Minturn....go up to Red Bluff
and eat at that authentic mexican restaurant there...and on the way back go up
to Leadville, and get a pic by that elevation sign.

I had to get that shot of Rick and get the camera put away, 'cause Rick dropped the hammer around the curve to Genesee and then Uzanak came out of nowhere! That S4 is FAAAAAAST!

I was house sitting in Conifer so I couldn't make it. Flashed you guys as I was waiting to make a right turn onto 74. I saw Craig and Rick and someone's black TT! Like to join you guys next time.

Too bad you couldn't make it. If this weather keep up, we may have to do another drive soon!

I drunk a little too much Saturday and was still in bed (with a hang-over) by noon. I said to myself, "I go with 'em next time." Sorry I couldn't make it, but I'll definently make it a point to go to the next drive-a-thon.
Talk 2 ya later.

I really had a great time. It was nice getting to meat some Orger's in person! The drive really made me appreciate my A4 even more! Wish I had kept my summer rubber on longer, but the Pilot-Alpins held up just fine. And now I understand where the 1.8T is lacking...Power in the mountains. Guess I will be making a call to a chip tuner soon! I really noticed it as Craig stomped on the pedal from 55 and also when I had to pull over to the slow lane as Mance's TT blew by me. Uzanak, thanks for letting me test drive the S4. WOW! I FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED! Hum, wonder what my 99.5 will sell for.

I look forward to next time and hope I can make it. I averaged 25.6 mpg for the drive back from Grand Junction. Fifth gear and cruise control the whole way up the grade worked great. Only time I needed to downshift was when one had these Surburbans that were in the fast lane going under the speed limit and had to slow down till I could get around them. Then I needed to downshift. The 17" SP9000s did great on the way. They just hold in the turns. Very little road noise either.
Vail will be great for the next run. I did not hit Vail till late Sunday night and it was dark, but from what I saw Friday afternoon the trees are looking terrific.

The Bronco just had major surgery...to the tune of $1,270 plus $160 for car rental....so the timing is not right at the present time. I gotta do it soon though.
I just saw this message posted on the TT board. Seems Mance had an interesting experience on the way down yesterday. Seems the TT is a little tail happy when turning and braking. Knowing his background ( IMSA driver ) it's not suprising he caught it as easily as he did, but it still makes you think.
I was two cars behind on the way down and didn't notice/see anything. Ken, you were in front of me....what happened.
Anyway, just thought you all should read this.

I hear ya on the "V" thing. I lived there for 3 years until I had to finally get a "real" job. Sure do
wish I'd had Quattro when I lived out there!

At least I didn't comment on that post that was talking about the annoying whining noise coming from near the passenger seat.... :-)

Had a great time. We need to do more of this kinda thing!
