I'm not sure if this has been posted befoe, been a while since i've visited, but here goes. For all of you that are dissapointed with the LOCK AND UNLOCK remote not working very well at distances try this little trick, it works much better if you put the remote up to your chin yes I said chin and punch the buttons.Try it, it works GREAT.
JIM C
96 A-4 2.8Q 5sp
Maybe I just inhibited but I'm NOT going to do that if a simple antenna extension will fix it.
JayF 1.8TqMS

I had the same frustration. Qhwn I took the car to the dealer for an oil change, they said they knew what was wrong and knew what part had to be added. It was installed and it works MUCH better! All covered under warranty. Hope this helps!
-Dean
by pressing the remote to your chin, you are utilizing the your skeleton as an antenna. It works best if you have a "minimum of tissue" over the mentalis (chin). Then your body will help to conduct the signal and the result can be longer range. This should be the case whether or not you had the Audi "fix" done to the antenna in the car. Also works when the battery begins to go dead.
Kirk
When you hold it to your chin, you turn your body into a large antenna that increases your distance.
Audi also has a bulletin out on adding an external antenna behind the bumper cover. See your dealer. The bulletin specifically states to install only if inop until you are within 5 feet of the car, so make sure you say it doesnt work at 6 feet, but does at 5.
Greg
