OK I was on Audi80.com and realized that the RS2 is the 5 cylinder 20V Turbo engine. Since I'm trying to get the most out of my 90...or make it as close to an RS2 as possible...should I try and transplant a 20V Turbo into my car and then add necessary RS2 parts like Alex sells? Or should I stick with what I had planned, which was TDL heads, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, throttle body, cone filter, CAMS, and eventually SEM system, with a single turbo? Like Rob K did. Like I said, none of the engine mods are getting done until next year, I'm just contimplating ALL options. I don't know a lot about the engines either, and mine burns oil like a mother. Thanks guys.

You can spend thousands on the non-turbo engine, and never get the power levels the turbo will produce! The turbo is much easier & least costly to hop-up!

the turbo is definatly the way to go. you can get some serious gains out of them with the RS2 parts. I hope you have alot of free time and money.....you planning on doing the work yourself?

To make an RS2 engine (code ADU) you need to start with an AAN, the US's closest relative to the ADU. The AAN was in the '92-95.5 S4/6. They aren't cheap. You can do it with a 3B from the '91 200q20v, but its not exactly the same engine (different ignition system for example). Either 20vt route is a fair amount of money, so keep that in mind.
What I am doing to my car is probably the cheapest way to get a turbo engine into a non-turbo chassis. Buy a 10vt engine (code MC), fabricate as much as you possibly can if need be, then eventually get a hybrid turbo and something like an 034 stand-alone EFI computer. With proper pistons (for compression ratio) you can even get a 20v head, make sure it has proper cams in it, and do a "poor mans" 20vt engine (I've done the test-fit already). I think that this route, with using non-factory (ie not $$$$) self fabricated manifolds would be cheaper, and has very good tunability via a laptop.
Anyway, spend $2-5k on a mildly modified (215-230hp) 10vt, or spend $3-10k on a stock 20vt (217-228hp). I'm spending around $2200 on my 10vt swap into the CQ including the donor car, but excluding a new chip.

No I am not doing the work myself, I have no idea where to start on the engine, I just basically know how most things work on it. I was planning on asking Rob K where he got his turbo done, someplace in Canada I think. Most likely there for the turbo and the other parts I'm going to have TDL put them in themselves.

So you're saying I should get a 5 cylinder 20 VT engine and work from there? Where to look???

$$$its a long project:-)$$$
i used to be the same way, wheni just got on this forum. I thought, oh i'll buy an 80tq tomorrow, then do a swap and crank the boost:-)
But after i owned 200t, i loved that engine and its cheaper than 20vt. Also i saw a guy, he is on this board too, who did a 10v turbo swap in his 88tq, put a bigger turbo, inchanced fuel system, better cooling system and now he is good for 300+HP!!!! not bad eh:-)
here is a site, forgot the nick name sorry:-)

You missed the fact that I said use an EFI computer with a 20v head and other items. THOSE are laptop programable. That said, you can use the EFI computer with a plain jane 10vt as well, and gain laptop programability...
