I could understand if they completed some kind of pattern like coming together in the center or fading out but these are 'stepping' to the right all the way accross.

ALL projector headlamps have this characteristic. Get used to it--the headlamps on your car provide far better illumination than earlier A4's, and they don't blind oncoming traffic to accomplish this!

Your only other alternative is to have your 99.5 retrofitted with non-projector lamps.
