We officially became A4 parents last night. It's a 99.5 Volcano Black 1.8T Q tip, sport pkg, sunroof and...........XENON lights????. Our question is how did we get xenon lights when we've only seen it as an option on the 2000s. We didn't even realize we had them until we were driving home last night and questioned the weird blue glare. It doesn't appear on the invoice or any other paperwork. Were these standard on the 99.5 but and option on the 00?

Other than the blue light, tghe best way to tell Xenon lights is that they "pop" on -- when you turn your low beams on, they're like turning on fluorescent lights, not an incandescent bulb. Rather then the light output building as the filament warms, they "pop" on.
Check the light unit. Open the hood and look at a light unit. If Xenon it will have high voltage warnings on it, and there should be a ballast enclosed in a metal box mounted to the back of the light unit.

Brought my car in for service and the dealer said that I had Xenon lights. But I don't trust his knowledge. I'm sure they are normal projection lights. I hope they are Xenon though.
