My car hesitates to shift into drive and reverse, and when it does "click" into gear it sends my car lurching forward (or backward) quite violently. Does it appear my tranny is going to go soon? If so, can someone point me in the right direction, or post a list of all the parts I would need new, and anyparts I could get used for an auto-manual conversion? I know we just went thru this with bmw slayer, so please dont snap, but I would really appreciate a parts list, and if anyone has done this, how much all these parts are gonna cost me. thanks!

It is a possibility that your tranny is beginning to go. How amny miles are on your car? Does the problem seem to go away a little after the car warms up? It sounds like your O2 sensors could be getting there. My car runs the same way and my O2's are dead, I just need to get the $ to replace them since the best price I can get on them is about $110. Does your check engine light comeo on? Let me know whats up and I will help you out with this problem.

Well, the car has 92,000miles on it. I am actually getting over 23 miles/gallon, which I thought would be lower if my 02s were shot. The tranny still snaps into gear, even after 60+mile drive. My check engine light came on once a week ago, and it was only for a min b/c my sis had started the car while I was still working on some stuff (after that incident I no longer talk to my sibling). the tranny prob is something that has been getting worse over the past 2months. so what do you think? thanks a ton!

Could simply be low oil level!

What they replace it with?

Audi automatics are "very" fickle about their oil!

Put in the wrong oil, and the trans will go south on you in a short period of time!

Hopefully yours only needs some added.

the shop specializes in souping out cars. His garage has 7bays and 4 lifts, so I think he'd help me out. any idea how long a job like this would take with 2 experienced mechanics, and a 17 year old kid with no clue???
