sounds like alex erisoty's car. pics on 20v.org's picture page.

the mag. struts are probably from the Sport quattro, tranny is probably a special build (01E basis?). the engine has something like 14:1 CR, and wild Kolb cams in it. runs to over 8k rpm. i'll bet it has some variant of the eurovan crankshaft in it to get the 95.5mm stroke it needs to take the 82.5 bore from a 2309cc to a 2552cc (eurovan was 2460cc). overbore takes it to a 2583cc. this thing has been talked about several times on the 20v list. a couple people on there have driven it/serviced it. maybe should check the archieves to find out more info on it (search for iceweasle and qshipq).

alex erisoty's 90q20v

Conversion is the only real choice.. come to realize that..I will be happy with what I get out of the motor for now..5/112 conversion. body work, and parts should keep me busy for a while anyways..

I am sure I can get it to be a bit more fun with the kent adjustable cam, we will see..

i can only think of one word: WOW. i knew the car was impressive, but geeeezus...

that 92.8mm stroke is the same as the 4.2L i think.

that thing sounds more like a deturbo'd, rebodied SQ than anything else. i figured it have SQ parts, but not that many! awesome car, if i only had the cash right now (all tied up in the market).

Hi Josh,

Make sure you have the tubular headers that came on the first 300 20V cars. They were installed on the cars to meet homologation rules. QuattroMotion in NJ has a set on a motor they might part with.

Make the compression HIGH. Racing pistons for the VW 2.0 16V will work. ARP just came out with a set of head studs that are better and much cheaper than Racewear. I had a copper head gasket made at Gasketworks for the 20V (had to pay to make template) You must go with studs and a copper gasket as the stock ones are weak when subjected to high compression/hard work. I have blown two head gaskets. Check out:

Best of luck, let me know how it all works out.

Alex

Definately nice when you get a hold of pleasant people:)
