I have a '97 Cabrio with 69k miles and the power steering is leaking. The leak is not by the P/S reservoir or line, but somewhere in the part over the back of engine; can't tell exactly since everything is wet. Is there a usual place the 90's leak and is it fixable by me or do I need an experienced Audi mechanic? Is this an expensive repair? Thanks.

Any leak in the PS system is not good. It needs to be located, identified & fixed. Could be almost anything. A loose line, fitting, or worn seal.

Since yours is a 97', the steering rack should be in good shape!

Probably just a line leaking near a connection?

Your Cabrio still under warrenty?

Thanks for the reply; I'll try to look into this further. Is it easier to spot leaks
from the top or bottom side of motor?
