I posted earler with a question about 5cyl blocks. Miktip pointed me to a link about a rebuilt 88 5000 block. He said that's when they went to the 2.3 liter with oil squirters. Or something like that. I took a trip to my local Pick-n-pull and found the newest Audi there was an 87 5000. I check on AudiWorld.com's model guide and found that it too is 2.3 liters. Would that block be as good as one from an 88? Any other reasons to find one from an 88? Or would this block be good? Thanks for any help.

How about the cylinder head?

The 1988 is the only year with the "big valve" head. 40mm intake valves, and larger ports to match.

Is their a head on the 87? Look on the door sill
for the exact production date of the car.
It may be a late 87, or early 86. Maybe even an 88.
