The AC in my '93 90s doesn't seem to be working properly. The air doesn't get very cold, and only the center vents shoot out the air that is somehwta cold, all the other vents shoot out hot air. I have heard that maybe I need the Freon re-charged?!? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanx!

A shop should be able to hook up a gauge to the high pressure port, and read if it needs charging or not. If it needs a charge of 134, then it should get a thorough pressure check to see if it has a possible leak. The evaporator's are known
forgoing bad. I just changed mine several months ago. The vent's not working properly, sounds like the electronic controller maybe bad as well, or one of the flap motors burnt out on the a/c box.

Miktip, how do you know that his car takes R134??

In the Bentley it lists the set-ups for R12 and R134 systems. Just curious as to how you know that HIS car has the R134.

I would think that at least some of the '93's would have R12, since it's listed. I'm sure the later models don't switch back to it!!

Just curious.

As your probably aware, the R12 high & low pressure fittings are different from 134 fittings.
So, whom ever hooks up the guages will know which refrigerant it has.

I stated 134 because its the more common refrigerant found in 93+ 90's. R12 is "rare" in the 93+ 90's, especially US versions.

Which either refrigerant he has, the system still
should be pressure checked, at a minimum, and leak checked if pressure is low. Especially if its R12! $$$$$$$$$

WDM....That's not that far away!!

We should see if we can find some more Central Iowa Audi fans and plan a get together. Although that may be a "minute" problem....since you're the only other Iowa "lister" that I've seen. What do you think...you up for it??
