I am the proud owner of my 2nd Audi, but that's 2 A4's. My husband is thinking of ditching his off-road racing crap and his truck payments and buying a car. Now.......I really want him to buy a '90 or '91 Coupe quattro (I love how the car looks and it's an Audi!). For him to junk his off-road racing he'll wanna come to the track with me, damn $$$. Anyways, here's my question- as far as I can see the Coupe quattro had just one engine and it was never turbo? If that is true, just how mod crazy can ya go on the 20v? It will kill him if my ride is faster, heh. Anyone care to share the knowledge?

TIA,
Jewel

I never saw my CQ as highly moddable (is that a word?) as my previous turbo quattro,,but in fact; that is one fun car to drive. It's not going to win you any drag races but it'll get you there and back. The furthest step in modification is basically a 2.5 liter mod. Although it's quite pricey and not really worth it's weight in $$$. Although I do like what I recently saw on the internet (as seen in picture provided)..lotsa work though; it'd be much easier to do a 20v turbo swap...anyhow; great car, original, fun to drive, not extremely tunable.

thanks for the info! So I take it this beauty never came with a turbo? Maybe he should look at the older turbo coupe? I just really like this body style better ;)

see model guide @

or, the '91 200, but they're getting harder and harder to find really nice ones.

see model guide @ http://www.audiworld.com/model/historical/91/200.shtml

I know nothing about the 200, but the 92-94 S4 has a bunch of chips, exhausts, suspensions choices - you just have to ask those who have them. check with the other forum. I try not to watch for the older S4's or especially the S6's because I know I'll buy one ;-)

speaking of, here's a great place that always seems to find great Audis (Coupes, S4, S6, etc.) I know the black '90 Coupe at the top right has been on their web site for at least a year, so I know they've got to want to sell it cheap. I think people are afraid to buy a car with 199k miles on it, but ask Tony and he'll tell you his has over 270k and still going strong.

Good luck!<ul><li><a href="http://www.karquattro.com/Coupes/coupes.html">http://www.karquattro.com/Coupes/coupes.html</a</li></ul>
