Lately whenever I shift my '96 2.8 quattro, there is a clunking sound that sounds like it is coming from the very rear of the car. The actual "clunk" comes when I let the clutch back up. It's almost like the sound you would hear if you had something loose in your trunk and drove fast over a bump. However, I have removed everything from my trunk, and I still hear the clunking. Is this normal driveline lash?

I have a 1.8tqm and I hear the same noise, It happens after shifting into gear and letting the clutch up, it makes a clunking sound when the gear starts to grab, I'm not sure if that's supposed to happen....but just to let you know, I hear the same noise, I've noticed that if I let the clutch up slower it doesn't happen as much.
