I have read the discussion earlier this week on the audi mudflaps. Since I have just taken delivery of my A4 with sport suspension. I am debating getting the dealer mudflaps to keep my car clean. Any pictures available...
Seems to be some debate about ground rub with these. Further comment on this and the installation/ removal would be helpful.
-thx

I installed mudflaps last spring on my 98 1.8T with Sport suspension.
They are very low in the back. I am told that they are this way because of some German law about much spray can come from the back wheels in the rain.
They scrap only when I go up steap ramps or regular ramps if I have passengers in the back seat. Though annoying, no damaged has resulted other than the mudflap get a little shorter each time.
They do however do a very good job of keeping stuff off the car. Especially if you have 225 wide tires.
The fronts go on with existing srews and clips. The backs require drilled holes in the plastic fender liner. Took me about 45 min to do the job.
Roger V.
98 1.8TQMS Wett1.0

I put the mudflaps on my 98.5 2.8qm about 2 weeks after I bought the car. They noticeably reduced the mud on the back and sides of the car. The are long and even without the lower sport suspension, I have scraped them a few times. No harm done but they sure sound like you are doing damage when they scrape. Once I scraped them on a curb parallel parking and I thought I had scraped the wheels or a rear panel. It sounded horrible, but once again I was relieved to see it was just the mud flap.

Steve, I posted some shots of the flaps on my '97 about a year ago. I think the file was named flaps.jpg. I can's get the A4.org picture poster to load for some reason, but you should be able to find the photo there.
Also, I recently added a photo of my car, w/ flaps, to the registry (which i also can not get to load today, Grrrrrr.) .
Hopefully, you will have better luck than I am having with the registry/picture poster.
If you would prefer, I could e-mail you photos.
Robert Jordan
'97 1.8t/M/B/CD/5-spokes/Con./armrest/flaps
