hey all,
just noticed today that my little outside temp gauge on my 1.8TQM (no trip) went dead.. has this happened to anyone else? i tried searching for "outside temp gauge" on the archives, but to no avail.. is there a fuse that couldve blown?
thanks in advance,
brian

It was giving false readings. For example, in the middle of last summer, in New Orleans, it was reading 63 degrees. At first the dealer thought the wiring harness and connector was bad, so that was replaced, but one week later, it did it again. Eventually the sensor had to be replaced, and once that was done, it has worked fine. With no display at all, the wiring harness may have come unplugged from the sensor. Unfortunately, the sensor and harness are somewhere in the airbox, under the air filter. Not exactly easy to get to. The dealer should be able to correct it fairly quickly.
Good luck

The temp gauge on the non-trip cars uses the same fuse as the heated mirrors. That is #9, I think, in the set of smaller fuses. I wanted to wire my mirror heat to the defroster, but I can't because I really don't want to lose the temperature gauge.
Good luck,
