just for my own peace of mind that the engine was thoroughly broken in. Also, I really didn't want to have the chip in until I changed to synthetic oil, which I also did at 5K. Some people on this board chipped very early, however, like even at 500 miles I've read. One more thing ... if you drive it stock for a few thousand miles you will appreciate the chip and the added power that much more when you get it.

Serious on the odometer, not on the engine.
My 2 cents is the break in is overhyped 10's of thousands of cars are driven hard in the first 1000miles and go on to live happy lives. Yes there are changes that occur in the engine in the first 1000 miles or more, but they will happen either way. Having said that I did go easy for the first 1000 (paranoid personality) and have driven it como megusta afterwards.
