Does anyone out there have experience with importing their A4 from the U.S. into Canada?

I just left a large software company in Seattle (Redmond, to be precise ;-) to work for an _awesome_ company in Ontario called Research In Motion (http://www.rim.net).
[END cheap company plug]

I've done all the U.S. export and Canadian customs and duty stuff, I've paid the registration fee with the Registrar of Imported Vehicles, and I've received their mailing package.

Now I need to have some modifications done, including getting the daytime running lights working, as well as installing a child safety restraint mounting point.

I've heard that enabling day-time running lights is as simple as switching some relay. Does anyone know anything about this? I'd rather do it myself than pay the dealer to do it.

Hearing other people's experiences would be welcome.

Thanks,
Michael

I did it the other way...going to the US.

In audi's letter to the government (letting them what the differences are and what needs to be changed), the typically state that all work must be done by a certified Audi Dealership. Customs will want to see the work sheets stating that the above was true. As a result, you may be forced to do this at audi.

Does anyone actually know which relay to change for day-time running lights? I'd like to do it myself and perhaps change my fog lights to stay on when I turn my high beams on as well while I'm at it.

So have any of you done the U.S. -> Canada thing? It's not like there's any big bother. I just need to get it to pass an inspection.

For example, the person at the Registrar of Imported Vehicles told me that I could do the translation of the airbag service warning decals to French myself if I wanted to.

If your gauges are not represented in metric, I believe they are required to be changed.

Same thing , canada going to US.
