Folks,
I'm in the process of ordering eurospec tail lights for my 98 2.8. I've heard various comments about extra items need in order to complete the installation. Could you tell me what other things I may need, like bulb holders, etc. If you could get back with me on anythings I may need or what to look for in the installation process, I'd appreciate it. Also, is this a DIY job, for someone with limited electrical (read "none") experience? Would the dealer do it? A body shop?
Thanks for any advice.

the turn signals are amber, not red. Similar to the new Passat's, where the seemingly red turn signal lights up amber.

Hey Phil,
If you're swapping in a 98 Euro spec taillamp onto your 98 2.8, the only thing you need is the actual taillamps. No bulb holders needed. You need an 8mm wrench/socket to remove 4 easily accessed nuts from behind the taillamp, and that's the only tool you'll need. You'll also need to remove the painted piece below the taillamp (comes off with the taillamp) and clip it onto your new Euro taillamps. Put the new assembly back in place, clip in the stock bulb holders, and you're done.
Go to Stan Jirman's <a href="http://rescomp.stanford.edu/~stanj/Audi/Tail/index.html" target="_new">Euro Taillamp page</a> for more info, including the part number you need.
I retrofitted 99.5 euro taillamps on my car, that's the only reason rewiring was involved. Even then, it was pulling out and replacing connectors in the wiring harness. No "actual" electrical work.

Hope this helps.

I'm getting my tail lights from a friend who lives in Germany. I failed to get them on a recent trip to Europe, and now I'm working on getting some via a friend. Thanks for the input on what I need. Lot's like a pretty easy swap. If anyone's interested in my old ones (MY 98), email me.
Phil.
