I just bought an Audi changer for my A4. I've got the old Delta head unit so I was stuck with the Audi changer. Anyway, I bought the changer and mounting bracket. I took it home and checked out all the parts. The vague instructions do have a parts list so I made sure I had everything. Well, the three "F" screws were missing. I called back the parts place, IMPEX(decent prices), and the guy there said he has another bracket and it's also missing the "F" screws. He also had another customer about a month ago who's kit was also missing them. It seems the kits don't come with the things for some reason.
What gives here? Has anyone else had this problem? Please don't tell me I've got to go to a dealer to get 3 screws. The F's seem to work with three expansion anchors to mount the bracket to the car. Anyone have any alternatives to use?

I actually went through 3 brackets before I got the correct one. All of the wrong ones didn't come with screws either and I was thinking about alternatives. I later ordered a bracket from Clair and got the correct bracket with the included, correct screws.
The plastic portion that the screws go into use a hex head, so I don't think they'd be something you can get at a hardware store.
Since those plastic things are the only thing holding your changer to your deck, you'd be better off finding the real screws/mounts rather than experimenting with alternatives. Hope that you can find some.
That the dealer is to supply your run of the mill screws from a local source! Meaning, the kit doesn't have them, and it's made for the dealership not DYI'ers.
Plastic things? I assume you are talking about some sort of expansion anchor. There are no plastic things in the parts that came w/ my bracket. The anchors that I got are brass. The screw that makes them expand is what's missing. I may have to visit a hardware store to find something equivalent. Freakin' pain in the ass.
I just received my OE changer and bracket and I can't figure the damn thing out either! The bracket doesn't match up with any of the holes in the trunk roof and, even if it did, I didn't receive any plastic pieces to fit into the hex holes. I've go those brass pieces and can't seem to find where they go either. I tried to follow the directions posted in the FAQ section of A4.org, but they don't work with the pieces I've got! We've got to have the wrong brackets and hardware!

I went to go look at my car, I guess the mounts are brass. It's been a while and I went through so many brackets that I got mixed up on what I finally did.
But yes, the roof cutouts do exist, it takes a little while to make all three line up but it makes sense once you see it.
JKM, sorry I don't know how to describe what the screws are that fit in the mountings. HOpe thatyou have some luck finding it.
BW, double check that you have the right bracket. It's shaped like a U for the 97 delta changer. It took me a while monkeying around with the wrong bracket before I realized that they sent me the wrong one.
Well, the bracket I've got is not "U" shaped. It's a two, well three, piece deal with 2 runners which bolt to the changer itself and a large flat piece of metal that bolts to the car. The runners engage the lips on either side of the large flat piece and the changer slides into position. Then there are two screws to bolt the the changer in place. Sounds to me like I've got the wrong bracket.
Ya know, you'd think for $50 bucks you'd get the right bracket and all the required screws.

Yes, the correct 97 Delta bracket is a single piece that is shaped like U. It mounts to the rear deck with two screws on the left and one on the right. If this doesn't sound familiar, check with the company and see if they might have messed up.
I went through several brackets before I finally just ordered from Clair. Clair sent me the correct bracket and it came with all the mounting hardware.
