Test drove the car after doing 417/414 and everything was fine, drove it the next day to work and back, and let it sit over night... started it up in the morning and had ESP light, ABS light, and Level Control Light on... Vag-Com showed the following:

18036 Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from Steering Angle Sensor P1628-35-00

01316 ABS Control Module 79-00 Please Check Fault Codes

Neither code will clear through VAG-COM, although I'm a newbie with it, and I may be missing something, but I clear other codes about the alarm, etc...

Is this a result of the 402 changes? Can I clear the codes myself?

If I have already put in values of 417 front 414 rear...

how do I redo the level? Do I follow the same procedure and put in 402 as a value on all four corners?

I went home, hooked the VAG up and entered 402 into all four corners, then shut it off, and the car lowered itself even more and was scrapping...

So from 417/414... then to 402/402... it was SLAMMED...

I re-entered in 372 up front and 378 out back and it came back to normal...doubling the 15mm and 12mm double drop.

WHY DID IT DO THAT???

I highlighted the 402 and changed it, then hit test, then save...

Did that make it slam? I was in a rush...

which are not being used. allroad-2oad is right... be patient and exact.

This controller needs a high-speed connection (read, "as fast as possible"). Enter numbers and always erase old codes (by highlighting and typing or backspacing over old numbers). Also, each time you recode the controller, it's good to close it and VAG-COM all the way and turn off ignition. Then, turn back on when ready to code again. I've seen my car make the changes I code as long as 45 seconds later... just when I think nothing worked. Other times, the changes are immediate.

Also, post your controller measuring blocks for 04 when you get a sec. Maybe we can learn something.

I have always done the 05 and added 01 in the block and saved...

But when I went to "redo" it the first time, after my original 417/414... the 01-02-03-04 values all read "402" at first... even though the car was lowered two days prior.

so I tested each block and saved each block, then upped to"05" and added a "0" to the "1" and tested, and saved...

then as i drove up my driveway in level 1, it was SLAMMED... I mean SLAMMED and making dragging noised... I stopped, recalcuated first on paper, then did "01/02" at 372 and "03/04" at 378... and it seems back to normal...

I wonder if I rushed it and the airbags let out pressure to self regulate and I saved to quickly or something...

417 in 01/02
414 in 03/04

then the 402 test/save in all 4 blocks = slammed

then
372 in 01/02
378 in 03/04

Looks stock, but I haven't measured it yet... I'm thinking it SHOULD be 15mm high in 01/02 and 12mm high in 03/04...

does that sound right?

If you don;t solve the problem the codes will stay.
