I will make this story short...
It was raining last night when I was heading home, in near freezing temperature. I powered my Brilliant Yellow 1.8TQ into a 90 degrees left turn. I picked my line. The car slid over just enough for me to notice. Kept my foot on the gas. I stayed in my line!
The slide over was due to cold tires match with condition.
Quattro:
100% FUN - 0 drama
Cris
Similar situation...coming home from a dinner get together with Christian Long
and a few qlisters....raining....90 degree right turn....but, my situation was different,
apparently since this is the first rain for a week or two there was a considerable
amount of oil mixed with water on the roadway. My tail swung out...when I went
off throttle...about 25-30 degrees....I corrected by putting my foot on the throttle
again. Moral of the story: "When in trouble, punch it!" (Nah, moral of the story is
"Watch out being too over confident in a quattro...you can still get in trouble...I
evaded it this time...but will you?")
Father Guido
P.S. Whats the deal with people flashing there brights at you from behind....are
they saying "good correction"? :-)

I had two similar experiences: last week, when visiting my father who has a new A6 V6 TDI-Q, I got the car to beautifully oversteer when I took a 270 deg. roundabout a bit too fast. There were leaves on the road, and I should have been more careful :-) Loosening the gas only a little bit brought it back under control.
A few days later, back in the US, on our freshly watered CA roads, my 2.8q didn't behave quite as nicely: taking the "Biz district" exit off Oregon Expway here in Palo Alto, I nearly hit the curb. There just wasn't enuf space where to skid. And no matter what I did, the damn thing just wouldn't oversteer. Close call.
Gotta go find a slippery place and practice with this one :-)
Cheers, happy driving!
- Stan
