Does the tip lock up in 4th, or will the torque converter only lock up in 5th? Speed is 60-65 mph. In my truck I usually don't tow in OD as it causes the tranny to heat up more due to the shifting on inclines. Is the same true for the tip ar?

I found that it did better then I would have thought with 3700lbs (Corvette Z06 an light open trailer).

late model 2002+... the trailer your towing better have brakes.

Stall speed on the ar is 3400RPM if I remember correctly and the tranny is capable of lockup in any gear depending on the TCU commands. Towing in 5th/D should be fine but be prepared to go TIP if your approaching hills or need to accelerate.

Seems like 4th would usually be best at 60-65 to prevent the tranny from shifting often. I'll give it a try.

I understand that '01 & '02 allroads have HP-2 4-pad front brakes. But I understand that fade is as much of a problem, or maybe even more so, than with newer brakes.

...that's what my '02 has, the same as on my '00 S4. Then when the decontenting began in '03, goodbye HP2's.

...it's a shame that Audi brings back what was not really that great to begin with instead of designing something new that worked great. Guess that's better than staying a step backward like they did after getting rid of the HP2's to begin with.

The solid rotor rears on my 2.7 were absolute crap when pushing the car hard, be it twisties or hauling a trailer.
