Hi All,

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I just couldn't find it through the search engine.

Right now I'm prepared to spend some cash for a 2000 Audi 1.8T with the sports package and the quattro package option. I'm curious, how negotiable is the price for this car with the options I wanted? Is $500.00 above the published dealer invoice(including the option prices) reasonable price for buying this car? Currently I live in Southern California and if anyone of you know of any good dealership to buy this car from please let me know. Any help or suggestions about this topic is appreciated. Thanks!

on your part, but who knows, it's worth a try. I think many people on this board have gotten 4 to 6 percent over invoice price. That's a pretty good guideline. The thing about 1.8Ts is, at least here in the Midwest, that they don't sit around on a lot very long. So a dealer doesn't have much motivation to make a person a great deal because he will probably sell it in a few days anyway. Now 2.8s are another story.

If you are going to order the car (get ready to wait), you may find a little more dealer flexibility on price. But I doubt it.

Good luck ...

Unless things have changed recently, that means the dealer is "missing" 2 to 3% profit that he would get if you were buying any other brand. It also means that the $500 over invoice deals that you can negotiate on many cars in abundant supply are very unlikely on an Audi, unless the dealer is willing to lose money on the deal. (May be possible with last year's stock, demo. cars, etc.) If you need more info. on what holdback is, try edmunds.com.

I recently paid $26,100.00 for a '99 A4 1.8T with Quattro, sport pkg, all-weather pkg, and sunroof. I checked around the country, and the best deal I could nogotiate was $400 over invoice, but the shipping costs negated the savings. I think I ended up paying about $600 over invoice based on info at http://www.costcoauto.com/carre/.

just went through this and it turned out great!

So can someone confirm that Audi dealership doesn't get 'hold backs'?
