after extensive research, we've finally got our prototype A4 1.8 short shifter tweeked and we've got our final prototype being made now. here is some inital information about it:

- shifter throws reduced approximately 25%
- fits 99 A4 1.8TQ (will be checking '98 and '00 as well as non-quattros)
- shifting effort remains close to stock
- no permanant changes to car (can be removed)
- push-down reverse feature retained
- can be installed from inside the car with handtools in about 45 minutes.

our production pieces will be CNC'd from stainless steel and aluminum while using precision cartidge bearings in the pivots.

before you ask, here are the answers:

- the shifter fits the A4 1.8T Quattro. we have not fitted it onto an A4 1.8T non-quattro. we cannot yet determine if it will fit the new '00 S4.
- no pricing has been yet determined.

KCM has a valid point...neuspeed is reputable...and they build everything for hondas and vw. however, we concentrate on shifters. we have, until this point, only done BMW shifter. you can see our site at www.shortshifter.com.

since we have an audi a4 in our fleet, and our concentration is still shifters, it makes sence for use to continue with our product line, into the audi market.

we don't do suspension, springs, swaybars, clutches, or motor upgrades. we do shifters.

DMak:

First, sorry for the long wait for the shifter. I know the waiting sucks, but please don't hold that against us. Our A4 short shifter will be one of the new products introduced at the 1999 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) trade show in Las Vegas, Nov. 2-5. Since we distribute internationally, our dealers like to touch and feel the new products before we release them to the public. That way, when you call a retail establishment to order, they won't scratch their head and say, "Huh?"

We put a lot of miles on our prototypes to make sure that it can handle the abuse of the most agressive driver. It is a complete, billet steel shift arm which upgrades pre-Y2K cars to the new, no-lockout reverse pattern. I haven't had a chance to update the Audi A4 section of our web site for several months, but after the show is done, I'll post the photos, specs and prices on our site.

Thanks for hanging in there.
