Put the snows on Saturday and noticed the Falkien Ziex 512s, OEM 225/55/17 size, were at the wear bars at teh inner & outer edges of all 4 tires. There was plenty of tread in the center of the tire. I ususlly run 40F/38R. Does one need to run 45 psi in these tires for even wear? The max pressure listed on 'em is 51 psi. The tires have 17,000 miles on them; about the same as my OEM Pirellis when I replaced them. Interestingly, my snow tires, 16" Arctic Alpins, are wearing evenly with about the same 40F/38R air pressure and have lots of tread left after three seasons (17,000 mi) and will last this winter easily.

...so you overinflating them to 38psi likely caused them to wear out early. Look at what the tire pressure insert shows and stick closer to that for your normal load. FWIW, I run 34/34 on the 245/50-17's on our allroad, and I feel that's borderline too high based on what's on the sticker and the larger size tire I'm running.

Overinflation causes the tread to wear in the center. Underinflation is the outer edges.

...that's causing the problem. Seriously, it could be a combination of hard cornering wearing out the outer edges and a misalignment wearing out the inner edges.
