Hey guys -- I just purchased an '02 CPO allroad with 31K miles on it and the 2.7T engine. I had the dealer print out the full service history for me and it looks like the car got every scheduled maintenance on time. That being said, there is a fair amount of discoloration on the engine oil dipstick that looks to be burnt oil. The oil itself is clean. So my question is the discoloration on the dipstick normal, or did the previous owner fry the engine (and possible my turbos) by not letting it cool down properly? Any input would be appreciated. thx.

tti sauce will stain a plastic container? doubt oil would get hot enough around dipstick, most problems for oil coking are in oil lines that feed turbos, and they can't be seen without removing them unfortunately.

Conventional oil sometimes leaves a varnish on parts when it gets quite hot. It's usually nothing serious. I'd run Mobil1 0w40 from now on with 5000 mile changes for the next three oil changes.
